Taylor Clinic is really pleased to announce the newest addition to our cosmetic team, Dr. Qikun Bao.
Originally from Canada, Dr. Bao earned his degree from Sydney University, and completed his internship at the Royal North Shore Hospital, where his love for cosmetic medicine began.
After that, he moved over to Muse Clinic, where he specialized in skin rejuvenation, as well as anti-wrinkle and anti-ageing treatments, and Aphrodite & Apollo Clinic, where he started practicing non-surgical face lifting using threads, a treatment he is very passionate about, and intends to specialise in while working with Taylor Clinic.
You’re probably wondering what on earth threading is and how it works.
Threading is a technique that was very popular in Asia, before making its way over to Europe, and has proven a very popular alternative for those looking for a quick and non-invasive alternative to the traditional facelift.
During a procedure, a series of threads containing microfilaments of polylactic and gyolic acids are placed in areas along the face that are prone to sagging, like the jaw line, cheeks, eyebrows and neck.
It works in two ways. Firstly, the threads (sutures) tighten the skin for immediate but subtle results. Then over the long term you’ll benefit from added volume, a result of the skin absorbing the polylactic acid filaments, which in turn stimulates the skin’s own natural collagen, giving the skin a more youthful ‘plumpness’.
The whole process takes between 30 minutes and an hour and is performed here in our offices under a local anaesthetic. And because it is non-invasive, you can return to ordinary life within a week. The effects of the procedure can last between 18 months and 2 years.
The biggest benefit to patients over a traditional facelift is that there is less risk of ‘botching’. It gives you a very natural look, and doesn’t change your appearance that much. In other words, you’ll still look like you, just a little more youthful and refreshed. (And your friends won’t immediately be able to tell you’ve had ‘work’ – another bonus).
Dr. Bao has a deep appreciation for how much thought and effort we put into presenting ourselves to the world, and he is committed to helping people look and feel their best.
Dr Bao is going to be working Mondays and Wednesdays for Taylor Clinic at the Bella Vista and Double Bay clinic rooms.
